Vincent Aboubakar has revealed all what transpired in the Cameroon Lion’s den in Qatar during the FIFA 2022 World Cup campaign in an interview with Canal+ Sport

Vincent Aboubakar, the captain of the Indomitable Lions, has shed light on the events that unfolded in the Lion’s den during the FIFA 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar. In an interview with Canal+ Sport, the Besiktas striker disclosed that Andre Onana’s departure from the team during the tournament was a result of his disrespectful behavior towards coach Rigobert Song during a training session.

According to Aboubakar, Onana would talk back to the coach whenever he was given instructions, which eventually led to Song asking him to leave. Aboubakar admits that even to this day, he struggles to comprehend why Song made that decision, but the underlying cause was Onana’s lack of respect towards the coach.

“In life, you can’t be too comfortable everywhere. You must learn to adapt… In football, anytime to do a negative action, the people note it and wait for you to stumble so they can use it on you… but honestly, Andre Onana needs to return, Cameroon needs him, he is a great goalkeeper with a very bright future ahead of him” – Aboubakar Added.

Onana has been performing brilliantly for his current club, Inter Milan, maintaining a clean sheet throughout the UEFA Champions League campaign. He is set to face Manchester City in the finals on June 10, 2023. If Inter Milan emerges victorious, Onana will become the second Cameroonian footballer to clinch the prestigious title, following in the footsteps of Samuel Eto’o, who achieved the feat during the 2009/2010 season with the Nerazzurri.
